Lila Martinez

About Me

Lila Martinez, originally from Mexico and now based in Los Angeles, started her animation career as a hand-drawn character animator for feature films in Mexico City. She then co-founded Phenomena Animation Studio, providing pre-production and animation services for the Latin American television commercial market.

In 2014, Lila relocated to Los Angeles after accepting a role as a Story Artist for Netflix's animated feature film "Duck Duck Goose". She later joined 20th Television Animation as a Storyboard Artist for "The Simpsons" and "American Dad!". Following this, she worked at Disney Television Animation, storyboarding on Disney Jr.'s "Firebuds" and "The Chicken Squad".

Seeking new creative challenges led her to Warner Bros. Animation, where she served as a Storyboard Artist for action-adventure projects on DC's "Harley Quinn", DC's "Meet the Batwheels", and the "Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match" feature film.

As a Director for the Batman CGI-animated series DC's "Batwheels" at Warner Bros., Lila leads with empathy and fosters a positive and inclusive team environment. She is dedicated to nurturing the growth of artists in both their craft and as team members, combining leadership, creativity, and team cohesion.

Lila currently resides in Los Angeles continuing her creative pursuits in the entertainment industry.

Recommendations

  • Lila is the best kind of Director - clear vision, great communication and loads of heavy lifting already figured out before the board artists even get their hands on it. She goes above and beyond - whether it's through creating tutorials for the artists, helpful new tools, or taking on extra workloads to assist the team. She's a joy to work with and a fantastic collaborator.

  • From a directors point of view she is exceptionally easy to work with and is eager to service the vision of the movie even as it morphs and grows through subsequent screenings. Her patience in this regard is invaluable. Additionally Lila's polite and keen observations during post screening story meetings were very influential in the growth of the movie.
